Our society is rapidly aging and many older adults have the desire to age in place but encounter barriers including inflated costs of living, lack of affordable caregiving options, and limited fixed incomes. Without better options, older adults can experience housing insecurity, homelessness, or they are forced into long-term care facilities.
These realities coexist with California’s crippling housing crisis. For the past 40 years, a lack of housing stock coupled with the rising cost of living has unequally hampered people from securing and maintaining safe and stable housing.
Big issues like these require a revolutionary solution inspired and powered by our own communities. Home Sharing is an innovative and creative approach that allows older adults to age in place while simultaneously expanding affordable housing options for community members in need.
Welcome to Home & Heart
We are a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to matching older adults who need help aging in place with college students, Camp Fire survivors, and others in Butte County seeking to secure stable housing. We use a thoughtful and comprehensive matching process to promote the safety, security, and overall well-being of our applicants.
